United Way and Deloitte both believe in community service, and we've worked together for more than 8 years to engage college students in giving back during their spring break. Thanks to Deloitte, this year's Alternative Spring Break brought 48 college students to Miami to volunteer with kids and youth in struggling neighborhoods, organized by United Way of Miami-Dade. The students also got a chance to work alongside Deloitte professionals to get a sneak peak at prospective careers and of Deloitte's culture of giving back.
United Way Alternative Spring has engaged 3,500 students in 112 hours of volunteer service. After just one Alternative Spring Break experience, 85 percent of participating college students said they’d be more likely to volunteer down the road.
That's one reason we've recognized Deloitte as an Outstanding Strategic Partner, celebrating its leadership, long-term commitment, volunteering and employee engagement.
Deloitte is a leader in its efforts to address our nation’s most pressing societal needs, with a national focus on education and veterans issues. In addition to its United Way employee giving campaign (one of the nation's largest), Deloitte has won kudos for its pro bono program and its community engagement initiatives.
